FYI, most people that survive house fires do so because they have their bedroom doors shut.

Ours stays shut almost 24/7. We've got a small dog that likes to hide under the bed after snatching something he's not supposed to have. If it isn't shut all the way he has a sixth sense about it and will bust through. Also cuts down on the noise of two boys playing in the house.

If my house ever goes up in flames the origin of the fire will likely be the many lava lamps in my bedroom.
I'm keeping the door open.
