Sheriff Sam Craft of the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office announces the October 15th, 2016 arrest of Bradley Lane Mock, age 21, of DeRidder. The Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office was contacted by the Rosepine Police Department at approximately 6:25 p.m.. RPD Officers advised that a complaint had been received by RPD regarding an individual wearing a mask and brandishing a weapon inside a vehicle traveling North on Highway 171. VPSO Deputies, New Llano Police Department Officers, and Rosepine Police Department Officers responded to the area of Billy Goat Hill. Upon arrival statements were taken from three witnesses who had been traveling in a vehicle on Highway 171 North at the time of the incident. The witnesses indicated that a vehicle had pulled along side the vehicle in which they were traveling and at that time they observed the passenger of the vehicle wearing a mask. Witnesses indicated that the individual then held up a gun where it could be viewed by the witnesses. The suspect vehicle was located by law enforcement officers at a business on Billy Goat Hill. Further investigation into the incident led officers to identity the person wearing the mask and displaying the weapon as Bradley Lane Mock. Law enforcement officers did take the mask and weapon into evidence and at that time it was discovered that the firearm was in fact, an M-4 Style air soft rifle, which was very realistic in appearance. Mock was arrested on one count of Terrorizing. Mock was booked into the VPSO jail and bond has been set at $ 50,000.00. Louisiana Law defines Terrorizing as the intentional communication of information that the commission of a crime of violence is imminent or in progress or that a circumstance dangerous to human life exist or is about to exist, with the intent of causing members of the general public to be in sustained fear for their safety. Sheriff Craft would like to commend all of the law enforcement agencies who worked together in the investigation of this incident. The safety and well being of our citizens will continue to be the top priority at the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office. This type of behavior will be diligently investigated. VPSO will arrest any persons responsible for such crimes and seek prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.
