Yes I want the job. The beard is clean. The job is in Louisiana, but the company started up north, so I'm not sure in the interviewer will be a yankee or southerner.

Tough call. Shave only half of it and you've got an instant conversation starter.

I interview clean shaven and explain at the end that I have a previously broken jaw and need a beard to hide it.

Air bag deployed.

Don't shave. I just did 3 interviews with a beard and owned the interviewers each time. Got 2 offers, and turned away the other when I left the interview. Nobody gives a shite about beards, tattoos, haircut, or attire. Confidence is everything. Just don't look like shite.

Beards are widely accepted. If it's well kept for your interview, will not be a problem.

I would say the beard is good in certain situations, but it definitely depends on everything else. Like, if you have a nice but thick beard, with a good resume on quality paper, good work history, proven track record, well fitting suit (preferably blue power suit), and you whare well spoken, you can get the job with ease.

If you come with a spindly unkempt beard, with a Polo and pot belly with a filled out job application, or better yet no pen and need a blank app, yeah the beard might be points taken off.

FWIW, last week I watched a guy come into our facility and interview a bunch of B teamers wannabe salespeople in the car industry. He sent some of them out immediately from coming in wearing jeans, or holding their hat with hathead, or being unshaven.. but you could tell they were shitty people with no drive

I just interviewed for a job this evening with a full beard. I got the job.

Shave or not? Sales job.

In the midwest? You are fine with a beard.

In the south? Could go either way. Maybe shave.

As a exec who has hired hundreds of people - if you are even asking the question- then shave it, you can always grow it back

A lot depends on the level of sales and the industry you are in.

In some industries such as Petro chemical facial hair is a safety issue.
