Laying in the heat in the sun may be the single most boring thing on this planet.

It’s way way better than driving from East Texas to Gulf Shores .

Head out early around 7-9 and set up, hand out, start light drinking around 10-11, chatting and playing with kids, snorkel trips pretty far out, come back in and chill and drink some more. Sometimes go back up for a chill or nap, come back down drink some more, swim, head up around 4-5 and start on dinner prep, cooking and hang out.

Couple of hours on a beach and it's enough for me.

My fiancée will spend 8 hours on the beach. It drives me insane. I’d rather go for 2-3 hours and then hit up the boardwalk or strip and go drinking.

It used to be fun when I was drinking alcohol. Don’t really drink during the day anymore though, so the beach is not for me

Sometimes we have to sit back and think about what some baws consider a beach trip.
Many of us stay in a condo on the beach and seem to know that there are pools, umbrellas, and lots of stuff that doesn't involve actually sitting on the beach roasting all day.

I envision fat Bob who values his vacation time at the hunting camp or the away LSU football game, so he isn't about to waste many extra days for a family beach trip. He also isn't about to spend much money on a beach trip.

His kind of trip is to leave La after work on a Thursday and head out in traffic on 4th of July weekend. He's going to stay a few miles off the beach at a value hotel. We are talking foam ice chest and public beaches all damn day for two days to make sure he gets his moneys worth. Everyone is sunburned, tired, and full of sand(including the minivan and hotel room). So yeah, I can see how that would suck.

Same. I can't just sit on the beach all day and roast. My wife can though

Mine too. I will hang out with her in the morning, then head in somewhere after lunch, then maybe go back out around 4-4:30.

I'm all for a good trip to the coast but for the life of me I don't understand how people can spend 8-10 hours a day baking on the beach. A couple of hours of sun, sand and salt and I'm done.

To each its own. I dont understand someone wanting to jetski.

Always enjoyed the beach. Go over to Anna Maria or Siesta key a few times a month. Love it

Agree completely. I absolutely love the Florida Key but hate the Florida Beaches and people all the time get confused when I tell them this. I’m with you. After about 2 hrs I’ve had enough beach. Now, get me on a boat down in the Keys where I can fish, snorkel, pull up on a beach somewhere for a short time, or just cruise around. Man I can do that shite all day every day for a week and never get bored.

have been working 7 days a week 12 hours a day since Dec. 27th. I would do some really bad shite to be sitting on a beach right now OP.
Instead I’m sitting in a chemical plant

Really not fair that they are forcing you to work all those hours and not ever take a vacation

You can bring your drinks to the beach.

For us the beach is just a foyer for the ocean. If there isn't good snorkeling or diving there isn't much draw for more than an hour. If there is a nice reef or lagoon with lots of varied critters in and around it then we will spend all day in the water. We wear 2mm shorty wetsuits so we don't have to worry about reapplying sunscreen and will spend 8 hours in the water just coming out to eat/drink. Without at least good snorkeling we might watch the surf for a few minutes or take a walk in the evening, otherwise, the beach itself has almost zero draw for me.

Under an umbrella with a breeze, cold beverage, decent views (environment as well as people), with some soothing music sounds like something I'd love to do the rest of my life until I die

I like sitting on the beach. If you can, you might try reading a book.

Yea? I’m 4 miles from Siesta. My shop is 2 miles from AMI. Amazing area when you can make your way west. Staying at home in the pool this weekend though. Not going to brave that traffic
