This will be the biggest we’ve had since my grandma passed in 2009. We had 10-14 then. Tomorrow we will have 12.

But our small get together is meaningful too. It’s still full of what makes the day special: love, food, and kinship that many out there would love to have.
Well said.

Happy Thanksgiving to all

Big holiday family get togethers can be dangerous for the soul. Before you indulge in any family drama that can turn hateful such as politics, sports or any other subject, remember this, tomorrow is not promised to anyone. That person that you might want to give some kind of grief to for whatever reason, might not be there for the next holiday. And you might not be there either. Do you really want your last words to be taunting or hateful?

Flying solo tomorrow most likely. Family coming in for Christmas this year instead, which is fine by me. I'll get a lot of house projects completed

Plenty. I don't know half of them half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of them half as well as they deserve.

Having 8 over. Will be fun as always. Not everyone sees things the same way but we’re all family and nobody gets in stupid fights.

Food, family, and love. It’s what it’s all about. I love Thanksgiving

ETA: but I will absolutely be checking in on the TD thanksgiving play by play thread

Think 6. Could be 5 and would be fine.

Daughter can't get in till after Christmas.

Don't hate missing the drama from 1 side and losing out on the 20 freeloaders.

10, with none of the drama queens or assholes attending. Am grateful.

This kinda hits home for me. Growing up, both sides of the family would have big gatherings for holiday and other. Esp on my dad’s side, it was even family bringing more extended family and friends (even some cousin a couple years).
Looking back I’m not sure what happened other than GPs and older A/Us passing, and I guess the connections weren’t strong enough to evolve. There was never any problems or drama afaik.
No big deal I suppose as everyone seems happy and cool, which isn’t common these days.

Thankful that ex wife found some dude to put up with her, so I can see my kids regularly, now that she’s no longer laser focused on fricking me seven ways from Sunday re kids. I shall relax with a friend and his small fam 10 minutes away.

It took two years and $20k but I can at least hug my kids now. So, good (in the jocko sense.).

I need some Jeremy Clarkson back in my life for humor.

Just gonna be six of us this year. My inlaws invited an old friend of theirs who lost her husband earlier this year. We'll be helping her get through her first year without her husband.
