My mother has had one that’s been coming up on her porch every night for years. The coon is as tame as can be now - will take food from your hand and will let you pet it and such just like a house cat. One day the coon showed up with her little ones. Now they all come from time to time and never once have showed signs of aggression towards anyone or any of mom’s pets (couple of dogs and a cat).

Oh wow. Wife and I came upon one this weekend in someone’s yard. She wanted to help it and a rehab person on the phone wanted us to try to trap it for handoff on Monday.

Thing was sick as hell.

All coons are bad. I try to hit them with my truck all the time. There a nuisance and tear up my garbage cans and mess up the camp

Be careful around wild animals. Surely you can’t be serious

I had a pet one named Leroy about 50 years ago. My buddy had his brother and he was named Tyrone. Our science teacher wrote articles for the local newspaper. We were on the front page with Leroy and Tyrone. Imagine the uproar today.

Whenever coons get on the porch, momma would just chase ‘em away with a broom.

ETA: someone obviously beat me to this.

They seem to be very close to being able to be domesticated like a dog or cat.
