The man accused of physically assaulting Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff over a face mask mandate at a local Lowe's turned himself into authorities Thursday, the Bexar County Sheriff's Office said.

Terry Toller, 47, was charged with assault on a peace officer/judge, a second degree felony.

Toller was allegedly in a verbal altercation at a Northwest Side Lowe's on Wednesday with a cashier over his refusal to wear a face covering inside the store, which was mandated Monday after an order handed down by Wolff last week.

Wolff intervened and attempted to give Toller his business card so the two could discuss the mandate at a later time, said Bexar County Manager Monica Ramos. The man then allegedly slapped the judge on the hand while trying to knock away the business card, Sheriff Javier Salazar said.

Sounds to me like a judge stuck his nose where it doesn't belong and then tried to shove a business card in the guys hand who refused it.

These judges are on complete power trips over this BS.

Are we a free country?

I don't have a single problem with a business deciding they don't want to serve someone for a legitimate reason. If the business says "masks required" it is one thing. If the business is only doing it because the judges are forcing them to I wholeheartedly disagree.

People should be able to make up their own mind. Maybe I will become a Texas judge and start mandating shite I feel. I know I can find medical people to back me up.

Like wearing printed t-shirts? Banned, the ink can cause environmental damage which can cause health issues.

Like drinking soda? Banned, it leads to obesity and heart issues.

Like to smoke? Banned, we all know that is a killer.

What is this one disease given such preferential power? We know it won't stop here.

Holy hyperbole Batman.

Wearing a mask temporarily during a world wide pandemic is another mark of government overreach?

Good grief. If everyone would just wear a mask we could have been getting beyond this shite.

And yet here we are.

sounds like the judge is the troublemaker. keep your card to yourself. I was hoping the man actually assaulted the judge. apparently he's just a snowflake.

But side note, are we not also calling this guy a Karen? No one is making him go to Lowe’s so if he doesn’t want to wear a mask, he doesn’t have to go.

How? Is the virus going to just disappear? Do you think masks are 100% effective?

Either we are free all the time or we are never free. “Oh no! 200k people are infected with a virus, hand over your freedoms!”

some of you people

So by wearing a mask you think what? The virus will just disappear? No it will go dormant or to a different carrier. The Covid-19 virus is here to stay. We need to develop immunity to it, not wear masks for the rest of time.

And yes, making something illegal by judicial fiat is the epitome of government over-reach. Want to pass a law? Get it through the house, senate, and have the executive branch sign it.

The judge needs a giant mug of Mind Your Own Business.

Of course not.

But everyone wearing a mask will reduce Rt to below 1, which will eventually limit its spread.

It’s all about buying time for vaccines or better treatments.

It doesn’t have to be that controversial

Lol this is your take?

The judge is actually offering to discuss the matter and not just saying he's the judge and what I say goes

Like drinking soda? Banned, it leads to obesity and heart issues.

But when a fatty walks down the street the people around him don't immediately become obese, obvious difference

You think the virus is just magically going to disappear if everyone wears masks?

Not only was he not wearing a mask, he evidently didn't maintain a 6ft distance whilst in the courtroom.

I thought it was about flattening the curve?

What if no vaccine is developed? Do we just wear masks the rest of our lives, cowering in fear over a virus that is meaningless to 99% of the people on this planet?

answered above.

Just follow the evidence - which admittedly will evolve over time.

But it doesn’t have to be something to argue over.

Wearing a mask is personally harmless and costs pennies.

Small sacrifice for the community.

1. It’s been essentially 8 months. There are two vaccines in phase 3 trials already. There will be a vaccine.

2. No one is saying cower at home. But what you want to do on your time is up to you
