Honesty is the first step.

Still I think it will be done by 2056.

No mention of the cost.

25 years at five million a year, I’d guess. But maybe someone here knows.

It will take that long, they don’t have the money to do it all at once.

She told us, we pay the legacy costs for the parish pension plan.

We'll have a colony on the moon by then. What a joke.

There were three options they had involving the zoo: renovate it, move it, or close it down. Of course they chose the option that’s going to end up costing the most in the long run because no one wants to go to that zoo because of where it’s located regardless of updated and nice it is

This park [and] this zoo is in the heart of a community that has had a lack of investment over the years,” said Sharon Weston-Broome,

In other words, people that have to see a return on their money won’t invest there so let’s throw a bunch of tax money at them.

Guarantee the tax dollars for this fricking plan didn't come from that community.

Both BREC and the EBR Library board are sitting on HUGE budget surpluses.

They are trying to string out projects and spending so that voters cannot audit and re appropriate the out dated taxes that they have continued to collect.

No one will go if it remains in its current location. I don’t care what renovations they make.

Wow, great billing strategy. Putting that in football perspective, 27 years ago:

- Curly Hallman lead LSU to a 2-9 season.
- Saban was a defensive coordinator with the Browns.
- Dallas won the Super Bowl.
- Drew Brees had never played tackle football.

No I think people will probably go, but that's all they'll do on that side of town. If they think that people will frequent restaurants and want to start doing stuff on that side of town to aid in revitalization, they're living in a fantasy land. I read that the intention is to make it more a part of the park itself, where the entrance will be moved and I'm guessing it'll be like a poor man's Audubon Park.

Except instead of passing beautiful mansions on St. Charles Ave, you'll pass rusted out plants and a tank farm, and 50 year old ranch style homes falling apart because it's the ghetto now.

Holy frick

I’m typically pro-BR but was in favor of just moving the zoo all together. Either way I’m going to Audubon, top notch zoo.

People will go once and then not return for the reasons you mentioned. They’re truly living in a fake reality if they think a partially renovated zoo will outweigh the legitimate concerns of experiencing some of that great NBR culcha.
