Baton Rouge startup plans to open 5,000 automated pizza restaurants in 5 years

They'll do this without a huge workforce of unreliable fast food employees that constantly get orders wrong, show up late, and demand higher wages.
They just got their first round of funding.

A Baton Rouge company that aims to change the restaurant industry through automation got its start thanks to a bad experience at a north Louisiana McDonald’s.
Speed Bancroft said an employee at a Winnsboro McDonald’s yelled at him after he tried to pay for his meal with a credit card. Bancroft said he didn’t notice the sign that said the restaurant’s credit card machine was down.
“It wasn’t really a jarring experience,” Bancroft said, sitting back in a jumbled office in the Nexus Louisiana Tech Park. There's a wall-sized painting of a joystick behind his desk, a reminder that the space used to be a video game studio. “But if you’re being paid around $9 or $10 an hour, you’re not going to be happy at that level.”

Cosmo Kramer had this idea nearly 30 years ago

Let me guess - their first location is going to be the old Fleur-de-Lis building?

They need to do this with Popeyes. I can’t think of the last time I ordered spicy and they had it ready.

The problem with this idea is the food is going to be shitty

When does this go public? I got my monies ready to pounce. Who doesn’t love pizza? Probably a Democrat.

Just like McDonalds, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Subway, Little Caesars, Atomic Burger, and Zaxby's.
Except they won't have as many slacker employees to pay. The people they do have will be at least somewhat skilled in maintaining and servicing equipment.

Good concept, but let's taste the product first. I have a feeling it'll taste like grocery freezer pizza, and if it does... I might as well just go buy some grocery freezer pizza.

True, quality matters but never underestimate laziness in America. It’s where we thrive.

You can taste the love people put into food. This will suck dick.

There has to be some employees, no?
Even if there's one guy, what happens when a group of 6 teenagers show up and decide to, by force, take people's food? I've seen worse at staffed restaurants.

I have been saying that i don’t need waiters or service folks.
I will gladly walk up and pick up my food or box a pizza or even go to the bar and get a drink.

Somewhat cool idea, but what’s this got to do with bad service at McDonald’s for not taking a credit card?

We'll need automated armed security. And automated ice cream machines that actually work.
