For the money, U-High is a great deal. Their I.B. program gives them one of the best college preps around. Look into it.

so, by your logic, Lafayette diocese schools should out perform the BR Diocese schools in the standardized tests.
No idea if they do or not. I don't think they share that sort of information. But I'd be willing to bet...they don't.
But, again, they do split out the ST Jude kids for key subjects. So that probably also accounts for some differences while allowing for the most efficient teacher allocations.

Your basically saying that the Catholic schools in BR are more concerned about money than they are about a child's education.
I didnt say that, but I am not disagreeing with that assessment either.
in Lafayette there are two Catholic high schools, one has 1,100 kids (9-12) and one has 800 kids (9-12). Both of those High Schools enrollments are maxed out in their current facility footprint. If the Catholic Middle schools would start allowing 32:1 ratios because of the higher demands for Catholic education, there would be a huge number of kids in Catholic feeder schools that would not be admitted to the Catholic High schools. That would create some really pissed off people and that is bad for church business ($$$$$$$$$) no matter how you look at it.

Gotta suck off the Chancelor to get in there though. 130 kindergadern spots, 160 kids with siblings already enrolled applied.

not MY numbers, not MY logic. I am telling you what the philosophy is for class size in the Diocese of Lafayette, I don't know what the test scores comparison would indicate.
My guess is:
Smaller class size + bad teachers = bad test results
Smaller class size + great teachers = great test results
Bigger class size + bad teachers = bad results
Bigger class size + great teachers = great test results
and wide variance in the test results for in between

like I said, I would be extremely surprised to walk through these Baton Rouge Diocese Elementary/Middle Schools and find 32 kids in every class in every grade across the campus. If that is really the case, then besides religion at school and a safe environment, what are you getting for your tuition money? not intended as a flame, but a legitimate question
Posted on 3/4/08 at 10:26 am to supatigah
The ability to tell all the friends that their kid goes to a catholic school.

for you to claim you are sitting on the board of a CATHOLIC school system and then insinuate that BR may only be concerned with "money". Well you're just a dumbass in that case.
Yeah, BR catholic schools are just collecting up the money. I think the priests are heading over to Vegas on a regular basis.
And, again, does Lafayette out perform BR? You are so indignant about the number, surely they do, right?

I'm the one that insinuated that and I do not sit on any Catholic school board.
Posted on 3/4/08 at 10:30 am to guttata
yeah, because all my friends kids don't also go to a private school. Do you have kids and do you live in EBR parish? No? Oh, then shut the frick up. You have no idea WHY people choose to not send their kid to the shithole schools EBR serves up.
Posted on 3/4/08 at 10:33 am to guttata
was that a reply to you, captain dumbass?
Posted on 3/4/08 at 10:35 am to CanShakersDecayedNut
I claimed that it was blasphemy to even think that the Catholic schools would be more interested in money than a child's education.

save your anger for someone who cares what you think, jerkoff
I didnt insinuate anything. Guttata said it, he obviously knows more about the Catholic School System in Baton Rouge than I do and I dont disagree with him.
I dont know if Lafayette "outperforms" Baton Rouge and frankly I dont care what the two system's test averages are. All I care about is what MY KIDS are getting for MY MONEY.
And based on what I have learned today from you and guttata I think
Lafayette Catholic Schools philosophy
>>>>
Baton Rouge Catholic Schools philosophy
regardless of what the test scores comparison would indicate.

That's not necessarily true. Our daughter was accepted with no link to the Lab School and her only link to LSU in general is the fact that my wife and I both have degrees from LSU.
And I believe there are only 100 kindergarten spots, give or take a few.
Posted on 3/4/08 at 10:43 am to supatigah
what did you learn from Guttata? What makes you think he knows dick about the catholic school system? Because he has internet access and spends time on an internet message board? Is he a product of catholic shools? Does he have a kid in those schools? Or is he just running with stereotypes that bypass any logic? As a person supposedly on a schoolboard surely you know about how the catholic school systems have to BEG to get funding from parents and parishoners. Including having Fairs and other fundraisers. Yet you claim you may "agree" with him? I may be a jerkoff, but at least I have some common f'n sense.

I know you cant disagree with someone without insulting them, so whatever else you might have to say is worthless
peace out
peace out
