You are damned either way, but one way you somewhat can plan and the other you can’t.

Hearing conflicting reports for Jefferson Terrace area…both from neighbors who talked to lineman
1. Said late last night or today
2. Another said 2 more days at least.
Anyone hear anything solid? Both of these reports were from yesterday.
Spoke to an Entergy contact (not a spokesman at the office):
There are a few broken things in the transmission line and the whole substation is out because the transmission line is a "one way" line meaning Entergy can't just switch JT to another line. Perhaps the only line in BR like that!
Power COULD be on tonight depending on the work left to be done, but might be a bit longer.

Yeah I’m glad to see them out. There have been 3 crews come look at these lines by Brentwood. All have said it some of the worst they’ve seen around BR. Thinking it’s going to be the weekend at least. Just my opinion.

That is what I’m prepared for. It would be nice if Entergy would get off their arse and say something so people could plan. We’ve sat here without power or an update for almost 72 hours. All information right now is pure speculation and rumor.

Is north gate sorta normal ?????
Matherne’s right there is a great grocery. BR will be like close to normal by Monday.

Near Goodwood/Sherwood and going on Day 3 without power despite minimal to no observable damage.
I’m in the same area and I’ve seen 4-5 downed power lines within a 5 block radius of there.

One Entergy truck just pulled up and parked in Catholic High's parking lot while practice is going. Praying this is the truck that makes my penis feel all tingly again.

Come on man. I’m not even remotely comparing myself to people that lost their home. This is literally a thread about power outages. And many people including myself are frustrated that almost no info is being released. Without information, I can’t make decisions that are in the best interest of my family. We have close family in Lafouche and Terrebonne. I know very well what people are dealing with. And to be completely honest, I’d love to tell them to pack their things and sit in my AC and take a warm shower in x days. But until then, someone isn’t leaving their hot house in chauvin to come sit in my hot house in BR. If I knew my power would take 6 days from now, I’m ok with that. I’ll leave town and wait it out bc I can work from anywhere. If I thought I could get power back tomorrow, I’d be telling the family south of us to grab their things and come pile in my house.

understand and I didn’t mean to be a jackass about it.
all I’m saying is that it’s been three days and the entire grid from the river east and from the state line south is/was out. Let’s have a bit of patience
we can survive a bit of hot. In general terms though, BR is and should be the priority not for residents but for businesses and industry. With BR as a resupply option it can support the outlying areas with ice, food, gas, medicine, building supplies etc. the catch 22 here is that without residential power the demand for resupply by BR residents is putting the outlying areas in even further distress.
give it till the weekend and if it’s still not better then we can bitch

Entergy will hold off restoring power until it milks every dime out of FEMA to pay out of state elect. contractors

One thing I've gathered in this thread is that the only people defending Entergy are engineers and other people with zero customer service knowledge and likely don't ever have to deal with customers in their day to day lives.
Though they are a monopoly here, as customers we still pay Entergy monthly and by definition are clientele of theirs. As paying customers, we have the right to question their policies and procedures. Nobody is faulting the linemen. Communication is vital and it's 2021 and the lack of transparency 72 in to this is poor customer service no matter how you look at it.
Someone with experience explain to me how there are any trees within distance of the most important feeder lines that power larger areas in this city. To me, its common sense for Entergy to cut down any potential hazard to their main lines. They've come out and butchered trees throughout the city with no notice just to get branches back from normal lines, are they too cheap to just pay for someone to chop the potentially catastrophic ones down that surround the most important areas in the city?

The argument isn’t that they aren’t getting people up optimally (although I don’t think they are).
quote:Maybe they don’t have a realistic estimate yet. Just a thought.
It’s that they aren’t communicating with realistic estimates.

Are you suggesting they've done 72 hours worth of assessments and aren't able to provide anybody with a reasonable time-line for their power restoration?
