LOL at those pics
ZERO description what what was happening, and at that rally, a lot of people on both sides were carrying and no one was shot.
Picture is worth a 1000 words. For example privilege

Well, I have said if the girlfriend is correct the cop is totally wrong.

With zero context, it's worth almost nothing.

If the cop was called to calm a disturbance between those 2, that would be obvious. The cop would know his life isn't the one in true danger.
You're giving cops too much credit here. They aren't mind readers.

It's not a lot of training. Do as you're told. There you go.
And yet, if the GF in this case is accurate (I don't know if she is) the man DID what he was told and got shot anyway.
We, as citizens, should not be in a position to have allay the fear and worries of law enforcement officers when they engage us. That's a terribly dangerous expectation to have of the every day person, most of whom have no reason to assume that what they are doing poses any threat, because they mean no harm by their actions.

if you think about what the officer in the MN shooting encountered, he supposedly feared for his safety because the guy allegedly reached for his handgun...or license.
I mean, in that rally pic, the guy in the white shirt has already reached for his gun and looks ready to pull it out at any time while the cop stands there and tries to deescalate the situation.

come on. If the guy was pulling the gun at the cop, the cop would have responded in kind.

It's a tough situation for sure, and I'm not pretending to have an answer...but what we're currently doing is not working and seems to be making the situation worse daily.
how come it works for so many of us, but not for a few others, mainly people with criminal records?
Some people grow up not respecting or complying to superiors their whole life, and they get away with it, which is why public schools in NO/BR are so terrible. They grow up thinking they can do this to anybody, then they act like this in front of a police officer, pushing the envelope, and they end up dead.
Where as the rest of us, who listened in school for the most part, and to our teachers and coaches and parents and other superiors growing up, even though we didn't like to all of the time, but when we didn't we were punished for it, understand how to listen and comply to people, especially people with guns.
As it's always said, there is nothign positive that can happen from running from the police, not complying to police orders, or resisting or being aggressive with police. You do that, expect shitty consequences. Just b/c you think a cop is being a dick to you doesn't mean you should start treating him like a piece of shite and not listening to him. He's the guy in charge, and he has a gun. Just like when the principle was in charge, and she had the ruler to slap you with. Disobey and disrespect at your own risk.

STFU
Context?! This white trash reaches for his gun surrounded by people one of them who happens to be a cop and lives to talk about it. This is why white people shoot up movies, malls, churches, and schools. They know they will get to play the mental illness card and get burger king on the way to the crazy house. Magically black men can "resist arrest" and get shot on the spot no questions asked.
playing in the park with a toy gun? pow you are dead
selling loose cigarettes? pow you are dead
reach for your license? pow you are dead
Shoot up a church? You want fries with that whooper?

but isn't the point that the guy in white 'reached' for his handgun yet still nothing happened to him?
and if he got shot by that police officer i'd be fine with it.

Yes, it's extremely important. You can't tell me what's happening in that picture, so it's worthless to try to make some point about Alton Sterling with it.

I'll bet if the officer in the Minnesota shooting was present, the dude on the beach would be dead right now.
Training standards are different from agency to agency, and cops are people. They react to stress differently in the same ways us common people do.

You're categorizing and assuming all white cops act and behave in the same manners, that the only thing different in this scenario is the color of the "white trash"'s skin, the idea of taking into consideration that this cop is actually an individual and possibly handled things well and could have handled other situations equally as well is portraying your ignorance loud and clear.

Yea I only listed facts that happened in the past two years but this is what you call ignorance. Go back to fricking your sister.

Maybe. But a cop would be dumb if a gun was visibly being pulled against him and he didn't do the same.
Yes it sounds like the Minn. cop
Was skiddish.
