It's been over a decade since BR had a hockey team. The population is larger now than it was then across the area. Lafayette got their team back with the Southern Hockey League. What would it take to get a team here again? LSU sports just aren't as fun anymore. I'd love to see hockey in this city.

LSU sports aren't fun anymore so you want to bring the Kingfish back? Did you ever go to a kingfish game?

This doesn't compute at all.

All great cities have sports teams outside of the NCAA. It's a fact. You aren't gonna get a minor league baseball team here to compete with LSU. There isn't a viable football option outside of the arena league which doesn't seem to be likely anymore. And people don't go to basketball games enough to worry about an NBA D league team. So hockey is an option that brings a different element and doesn't have to compete with LSU. I've been to games in Lafayette and Pensacola for the SPHL and they are packed because people recognize its a fun family event for cheap.

So what. As long as they fight, who gives a shite who won or loss the game.

I loved watching the kingfish. The brawls were great fun to watch. We got front row seats behind the goal one night, it was incredible.

Kingfish games were a blast as a kid. No clue if they would be entertaining as an adult.

The city might be larger than ever but I don't think the people that have increased the population there give two shits about hockey.
