Why not both?

DAs office probably thought they had it in the bag. Only 4 days for a murder trial including deliberations? That’s wild.

Imagine being that prosecutor
Can you imagine going to work the next day, losing to a guy that probably didn’t finish high school. And admitted that he was on the run.
Two eye witnesses said they saw him leaving. Crazy.

Same jury pool we are supposed to trust in delivering justice to Madison Brooks.

Those of you that have seen an EBR jury know how this is possible.

He only needed one to be retarded.
Who are we kidding? It's Baton Rouge...most were probably borderline.

The police aren't exactly hustling to get solid evidence on some of these cases. Probably busy investigating massage parlors.
My wife was juror on a murder trial in EBR and she said that the prosecutor had a very weak case. There was one witness, who was a guy that was given immunity from an unrelated crime in exchange for testifying. The other witness was a neighbor that saw a car that was similar to the defendants a guy that looked similar to the defendant but she couldn't say that it was definitely him. That's it. Basically the prosecutor was like "we know he did it and you have to trust us in order to make your community safe".
The jurors thought the guy was "probably guilty" but it didn't meet the standard of being beyond a reasonable doubt.

That’s what I don’t understand. Shouldn’t the damn Prosecutor have a contingency plan in place, in the event the untrustworthy eyewitnesses back out at the last minute? Did the prosecutor not read what happened during the 2007 Edward Gay apartment massacre, regarding how some below 80 IQ tPOS played the prosecution, which led to an acquittal of the trigger men of the PhD Indian students? The Prosecutor should have known these eyewitnesses can’t be trusted with the unwritten “laws” of NBR. Was there not recorded interrogation between BRPD and the perp? Was there not a gun recovered during the investigation process to match ballistics recovered at the scene of the homicide?
Yeah the Prosecutor got played once again by some low IQ tPOS.

Doesn’t BR have the new jury law in place? I see there being one retarded person saying not guilty and him being cleared.

We don't have enough information here to judge the guy, but holy hell they kept him in jail since 2018 without a trial. No way should that be legal.

If you show me the jury I’ll show you who said he isn’t guilty. Baton Rouge is a 3rd world shithole.

Not the way it works. Under the new law, there must be a unanimous vote to reach a verdict (either way). The article says he "was found not guilty." If that is correct, then all 12 voted NG.
If they had been split in any way (11-1, 6-6, etc.), there would have been a mistrial (rather than a NG verdict), which would allow the prosecutor to try him again.

The article says there were witnesses, but we know nothing about them. Probably not he best witnesses live in that area. They may have cut deals on pending charges in exchange for their testimony, or they may have had a feud with the defendant, or been high as hell on crack, or been pals with another suspect. We don't know from the article. Dude may have impeached the hell out of them.

You can blame this one on the BRPD and their lack of evidence. They thought it was a slam dunk so they likely didn't go the distance to bring the prosecutor anything to recant the defendant's "I wasn't there" defense.

Oh well it shows it does not take much to beat Hillar Moore and the BRPD.
Our worthless DA got out lawyered by a non lawyer.

A four day trial isn’t that uncommon. Even in a murder case.

They had to have been something going on with the eyewitnesses of the murder.
Well, they weren't eye witnesses.
The "linked him" to the murders. One may have witnessed the argument days before and the other may have simply witnessed him trying to elude police.
