Was just thinking that. Or the kid kills the engine and they all die of heat stroke.

Just doesn’t sound like a good idea, especially if she was gone for half an hour.

Unless the 10yr old fears the asswhipping that would ensue after touching things they are not supposed to

Why cant reasonable parents determine if their 10 year old is competant enough to follow the rule.

Eventually they will have cars with different setting to combat this (ac, etc. on while keys are away so car cant be put in gear).

Hopefully these are catch all ordinances but the officers on scene would have just gone about their business when they saw the situation was fine (outside of the narcotics obviously)

What about the 6 yo?

Kids do stupid things sometimes. Especially if they’re left confined to a small area and told not to do anything for half a friggin hour. Just take them with you. Or take them home then go back out.

Because you can’t determine which are reasonable and which aren’t until after someone is injured or dies.

Crymes initially told police she was inside the store for 15 to 20 minutes and left the children in the car with the 10 year old in charge and the car running. She later said she was in the store for approximately 30 minutes.

So kids with a 10 year old watching them with the AC running while you run into the store is a crime?

Come on...common sense has to kick in at some point. What danger were they in?

Maybe that they could be sitting ducks to be kidnapped or taken if the car is stolen That's the only thing I can think of

I used to request to be left in the car as a kid. Would rather just sit in the a/c and read than go walking around Target for 20 minutes.

My mom knew better than to leave me in the car with a bottle of pain pills. Those were the days.

The only danger is if you don't make it back to the car. Some idiot decides to kill you while you are in the store or on the way to the car. Im guilty of it. I dont leave my kids in the car for 30 minutes though. It's only a couple minutes at a gas station to get them something to drink or eat. If I'm at a store to shop they getting down.

How is the 10yr old supposed to develop responsibility if never given the chance?

Life was so much simpler when you could just give your 10 yr old cash and make them walk to the store to buy your cigarettes.
