Do NOT make it four lanes in each direction. That will only give 'emergency' vehicles more places to park for accidents.
INSTEAD:
Build a third bridge, four lanes wide, and cross-overs/escape lanes so than when one of the two bridges get's clogged, the newest bridge can accomomdate the trapped cars.
Only use it for emergencies, to keep traffic moving and stop eating up the hours of decent folks' lives.

2 vehicle crash and was told two people taken by airmed to hospital. I pray they will be ok.

I learned the hard way to always listen to Waze. When it says reroute. Reroute. Do not question the wisdom.
