There was a thread on here a couple weeks ago talking about the cameras regulating speed to 60mph on the basin bridge. I thought it was starting July 1? Went back and forth over it in the last week and may have exceeded the limit. Has anyone gotten a ticket from these cameras or did this die on the vine?

This is such bullshite and opens up way too much of a speeding camera slippery slope.

Nothing is stopping them from putting these on every stretch of interstate in Louisiana now.

Just print out a fake paper Texas plate to cover your plate.

From what I understand the cameras and signage haven’t been installed and are not expected until next year so I think for now it’s just the increased fines that are really in effect.

Drove 70 over it a week ago back and forth from Houston
I will say people are definitely slowing down and it's noticeable

yeah, they take months to repair a pot hole but, for something like this they'll probably move a lot faster.

The law goes into effect 8/1, but I don't think the cameras have been deployed yet.

I think inattentiveness is more to blame for the accidents but that's just my opinion

Wrong, the cameras have not even been installed. Speed limit the same. Law is in effect for speed fine, but cameras are not even designed yet. Per DOTD.

Am I to understand there is no wiggle room on the speed? 18 miles @ 60 MPH = 18 minutes minimum?

So you could do 59 the whole way but speed for 1 minute to pass something and get pegged?

Are they expanding the shoulders at the exits for the hundreds of cars pulling over to wait a minute or 2? Either pull over and wait a few minutes or pay a speeding ticket? Sounds safe.

Just go the speed limit. It isn't hard.

I was speeding over it this weekend. If a sheriff can do 90 and not get a ticket I should be able to do 75

we timed it at 60 and were under the 18 minutes by a bit.

Correct.

You can do exactly 60mph across but god help you if you pass someone doing 61 or catch a draft off a vehicle.

I'm willing to bet there will be no studies to see if accidents go down (or up) with the cameras.

To my knowledge, accidents did not go up after the 55 mph speed limit was repealed.
