I have shrimp in my freezer. I won’t leave even if a Cat 4 or 5 comes to my doorstep. ( which has happened). I’m going to save my shrimp.

We value these things. You don’t have to. That’s cool. This is America.

I’ve been around the world, from London to the bay. I’m not saying they’re aren’t better places for other things out there, but for the stuff that matters to us, it’s in south louisiana.

You're giving up something trust me. How's the food? Is there anything to do there or is it boring like the northshore of Nola. I mean everyone wants to bash BR and Nola but it all boils down to demographics and eventually the demographic in question will make it to your area so enjoy.

Even my wife knows how to change her own car battery and wouldn't let some other person do it.

Specifically going to Popeye's with family from Louisiana for the first time here is a guilty pleasure of mine. To see the shock on their face when you get acceptable, prompt service

Yep. Moved from SE LA to NW AL and it's like living in a dream world. Everything but the food is better. Literally everything. The weather, the people, the cost of living, the roads and public spaces. You're not actively being nickel-and-dimed for bullshite like brake tags or simply parking your car downtown. The public services are better tenfold. Trash, recycling and bulk trash approach the neighborhood at once and work in different directions, super efficient. I needed my water turned off before we left for SE LA before Christmas a few weeks ago, called the Water Department, and they were here within an hour. I see cops actively patrolling - saw them rolling code once in 7 months and when the cavalry was coming it was coming. Really incredible.

Billings, MT have the same crime rating (or very similar) as Baton Rouge but I can tell you which ones seem safer.

If you avoid crossing John Dutton you're totally safe up there.

It an’t the true Popeye’s experience unless you have experience the ones in Nola or BR.

Remember the rule you go to Popeyes for the experience not the food.

Agreed. It's why I prefer the areas where people mind their business. In Louisiana they project their attitudes onto you

Many years ago I spent some time working in L.A. County and then got transferred to Houma, LA where I went to high school and hadn't lived in 10 years.

Some people asked me if going there was a culture shock. I honestly thought the bigger culture shock was going back to Houma

The amount of misery in Louisiana is pretty disgusting to see

Thankfully the people I associate with from Louisiana are all great positive people for the most part

As someone who grew up in Bienville Parish, it's hard to imagine liking that area. I swear those are some of the poorest parishes in Louisiana unless you got some of the shale money.

Because I don't have to worry about my house getting broken into. Only gunshots are during hunting season. Everybody are polite to each other no matter what race you are. Last murder was ten years ago.
