The Barrett-Jackson collector car auction from Scottsdale is on the FYI channel this week. Big dollar cars will go across the block Saturday night.

The Bachman Collection at Mecum this Saturday was impressive.
46 Ferraris, most expensive was 38.5 million.

I missed that one (need to catch the video online), but watched the 2003 Ferrari Enzo go for $16,250,000 and it was thrilling.

I could watch people bidding on cars all day long. I was at Barrett Jackson's fall auction in October, and we had tickets in the VIP area where almost everyone up there is there to buy, and I seldom left the area. It's too exciting to be in the middle of.

I'm always stunned at the amount of people that can afford these cars.

One of my favorite things to watch on television. I'll just leave it on in the background all day sometimes.

RIP Speed Channel

They have lots of different price points.

The high-dollar stuff gets the most attention, but a lot people bring really rough cars there hoping to get that B-J mystique

With the right provence (real), I'm not sure you can overpay for a Ferrari.

David Lee bought it.

He also has the big 5 Ferraris in yellow AND red. Dude has some $$$ in Ferraris….now $30M+ more.

ETA He is on YouTube and IG as FerrariCollectorDavidLee or something close to that.

Yeah, in true New Orleans fashion, that was a one and done.

They ended up polling the attendees after that one, and the vote was pretty clear that they don't want fall to rotate anymore. So it's looking to be in Scottsdale just like the winter one is for the time being at least.

Before he passed in 2008 my wife worked for Boyd Coddington for 5 years. We got to go to Barret Jackson in 2005 when he took 3 cars. The Max Hemi was built for a make a wish kid. The 32 Bud Light roadster was a TV build. And the Led Zephyr was for a frequent customer of his.

A couple years ago they sold this weird looking 6x6 Hummer on Barrett Jackson, Richard Rawling/Gas Monkey Garage had bought it from the builder to resell it and it brought $825,000. I guess thinking they could duplicate the success Rawlings gave the builders a beat up Ferrari Testarossa to do the same 6x6 treatment with. Apparently the deal went south and the builders never finished it so Gas Monkey has been showing it on their Youtube channel trying to finish it in time for this auction, hoping that it would bring over $1 million. I don't see it on the docket so I wonder if they were unable to finish it.

On the early days, some cars are practically given away (not really, but go for really cheap).

It's fun to go walk the tent where these are stored and see things like an older Maserati (which, from the outside, often still looks modern) with a $10k sold sign on it.

I guess there's a butt for every seat, but that's hideous IMO.
