I have a friend who raises chicken and he said this owl would come down and attack his chickens. Said the owl would rip the heads off and leave the bodies. Kind of gruesome and arse hole behavior on the part of the owl.

From what I can tell those owls are still there and the fights those things have with crows is kick arse to watch/listen to. Apparently those two types of birds are known to fight a lot. Many dead crows have been found under those trees. One day I walked up on one that had about a half dollar sized hole right in the middle of it's chest. Owls do not frick around.
Owls are top predators. fricking vicious man

They keep getting worse the more I learn about them.
Agreed. My already initial low appreciation of the barn owl is declining even further.

There are a lot of these guys in St. George.
I guess that makes them racists.

Yeah, I could see why you'd think they look a little... off

I was in Austria for business and one weekend we went to a ruined castle up on a mesa for a tour. They had a birds of prey show that was awesome. At one point the guy had three condors out and flying around way up over the audience. He would put a piece of rabbit meat out on one of the parapets and stand back. Within seconds one of the condors would swoop down and snatch it.
After some time he got all three back to earth and in their cages. He said he needed to get them locked away because he was going to bring out some owls.
It turns out birds of prey that are out during the day will kill owls on sight. The nocturnal owls are mortal enemies of the daytime avian predators.
Another fun fact, owl's feathers are shaped so that they make no sound as they fly through the air. They can swoop down silently on unsuspecting prey. They screech right before they hit their target to freeze it in fear.
Such a cool adaptation of function dictating form.
I like owls.

We had a family that lived in a tree at a buddies camp. We would throw live fish on the ground and in the air and they would snatch them up in seconds.
It was badass to watch.

Said if you see a headless pigeon look around and you will find the owl keeping an eye on it's dinner.

At least barn owls are beneficial by hunting vermin.
Pit bulls just try to eat children.

There is a video somewhere of someone letting an owl fly around a room for a wedding. (Might have been Harry Potter themed idk) But the damn thing flew full speed into a big window and it fell dead as a hammer LMAO.
EDIT: Here it is. It wasn't Harry Potter themed wedding (would have been even funnier) but the owl was supposed to be the ring bearer
