Bar Owners Join Lawsuits Fighting COVID Closures

The 11 Acadiana bar owners filed their lawsuit Wednesday in Lafayette western district federal court against Edwards and Louisiana Fire Marshal Butch Browning, saying their businesses have been unfairly targeted by the governor’s restrictions.

i saw an interesting one filed in texas that would allow for bars with a full kitchen to stay open. more than 51% of sales alcohol, but different from a nightclub so to speak in that they have dining.

This is what some of the bars near here are doing. I was in one the other day and they put tables with a few chairs against the bar and were spread out 6 feet or so and then other tables scattered around in the open spaces. Nobody was allowed to stand at the bar and drink.

Hate suing but Great! Especially if Casinos can stay open! What a joke, seriously you can go into an indoor casino with Alot or the population that is high risk because of their socioeconomic status health issues etc. But it is beyond my comprehension how they do this ! No church, bars, etc but you can be within 6"ft & 600 people and it's no problem ??. I know it's all about lining the right pockets but DAMN talk about HIPOCRACY

I don't go to bars myself, but I get it. Walmart/Lowes are overrun with people, but somehow bars can't practice social distancing? I mean, I get that it's harder, but let the bar owner figure it out.

You can't see the many differences between Walmart/Lowes and bars? People need groceries. Nobody needs to be driving drunk.

My comment wasn't about what goes on in bars, I'm against drunk driving at every level and think penalties need to be way stiffer than they are.
Restaurants and many other non essential businesses are open, bars shouldn't be singled out to close if they can figure out how to maintain social distancing the same as others. It's not a hard concept.
It's the the govt wasn't picking winners and losers.
