Many residents don’t want the area to be the next “cancer alley”. With the river access Vidalia could start an economic boom for an area that severely needs it if they developed. Just built a small port. Access is much easier than the Mississippi side due to the elevation.

I’ve heard suggestions that Cathedral may want to look at the property since it would move them from the ghetto to the outskirts of town.

Because they don't revel in young boys dressed like Civil War Confederate Generals as much as they used to?
They've traded the "good ole days. If the south woulda won" tone of it for a more historical perspective. But...
It's still very much a part of the Tableaux. For the last 12 yrs I've been to at least one performance per year.
Was there for it the Day of the St Pats Parade in Baton Rouge this year, driving up right after the parade. Long arse Day.

Heard that as well. Maybe moving the HS there or Elementary.
Also possible to become public park for using the athletic facilities.

Natchez has potential. I would like to see it as a popular destination like a Fairhope, AL. It just needs more places to go and stuff to do. Natchez is just too small at this moment for a bustling tourism scene.

Syrah Graphite plant. They will be manufacturing some form of Graphite to be used in batteries for electric vehicles. I live here and I'm not one that is opposed to it.
The group that is raising the questions got wind of Syrah basically getting pushed out the North Shore for environmental reasons. Everything they do though is legit. At least, that's what I've seen. People in North Shore kept talking about the waste water for the fisheries IIRC

never quite heard what happened with Trinity other than it closing.
Dwindling enrollment. It was barely over 100 in the entire school. Most of those kids especially athletes are headed to ACCS.

I don’t know how AC would handle 150 more kids. It’s very small. 60 more kids in that one building they have for 7-12th grade, and that’s just an average of 10 kids per grade, would be a major pain in the arse for everyone.

There was a multi-page thread on the OB about it where IB Freeman showed his arse. Should be searchable there.
They were planning to release a shite ton of questionable water into the local estuary. Seems like it stopped before it started.

My SIL’s kids left for Vidalia instead. There was some bad blood between the family and ACCS which was why they left for Trinity to begin with.

I’d send my kids to delta charter before I sent them to vidalia public school. frick that. When I lived in Natchez, people that got kicked out of all the good schools went to vidalia.

I've been to Fairhope and quite enjoyed my stay, but is there really that much to do there beyond golfing and a day wandering around the downtown (NTTAWWT)?
For the record, I agree that Natchez needs a bit more to really reach that top tier of travel destinations. I'm just not quite sure what that "bit more" would be.
Also, I can see why people didn't want the graphite plant, but there's no doubt the area needs some large commercial growth like that to supply blue collar jobs. There's no middle ground in lifestyle around there.

International Paper, titan tire, fruit of the loom and johns mansville closing destroyed the middle class in that town. It’s crazy how much that area has lost the last 20 years or so.

My understanding was that they applied to the charter but I don’t know if they got in.

Greg writes pretty good books though some of it’s pretty disgusting.
I hear that in his crusade as a white apologist, he has managed to kill Trinity Episcopal Day school and make the Pilgrimage Tableaux a joke of its former self.
Has anyone else heard that or was I mislead?
It is true, I have known him 35 years and he used to be a good guy until he was attacked by white guilt, now he can DIAF for all I care.
If you can afford it Natchez is a great place to raise a family, and by afford it I mean be able to swing private school and live off what you already have, you will not make much of a living there.
I come from perhaps the most "Natchez" family in existance and moved away though I still own two homes and a bit of land in the area.

The amount of ignorance in this post is astounding.

If you weren’t a state fan, I’d say you were a Bertolet. But they are so Natchez, they could only ever be ole miss people.

Not exactly although there are a few up the family tree.
