Gets Rescued By Texas A Cop So the cop's name is Texas?

Texas A Cop

Pretty strong name.

You think he became a police officer because his last name was Cop?

That is fricking heartbreaking. That poor child.

Goddammit this world needs a flood.

And how many children would die in your flood?

Didn't think that through, eh?

Child Protective Services is probably considered civil.

I agree, but breaking that window is a lot harder than most realize. Most people wouldn't be able to break it easily without having a crowbar or something similar.

Truth. Which is why I have one of those little seat belt cutter/window breaker tools in my center console. Probably a 1 in a couple million chance I'd ever need it, but if I land in a body of water or the car is on fire and I can't open the door I'll be glad I have it.

ETA: Pretty damning that the mom allegedly "arrived on the scene" with the grandmother. It basically means she drove the car there and left both car and child and went home. Kinda hurts any "I was in the store and forgot to the kid in the car" defense.

As terrible as this is, in many cases it's not purposeful.

Sometimes people who are normally responsible get distracted and forget that the child is in the backseat.

It happened to my brother in law, he took a phone call on his way to work and forgot to drop my niece off at daycare.

Fortunately, as he was walking away from the car towards his office he realized what he had done.

It scared the shite out of him thinking what may have happened.

Thank God it ended well for this child as well as my niece.

Was the skank arrested on the spot?

I would have put her in an non air conditioned squad car and left her there while I wrote out my report. And that damn report would have been about 20 pages long.

I can easily see how it happens accidentally. My wife used to always bring our oldest to daycare. The kid would also fall asleep being in the car more than 10 minutes. One morning the wife had something going on so I decided to make the daycare drop. I got in my truck and made a phone call and before I knew I was driving straight to work. It scared the shite out of me b/c I could have been that person. My wife and I got into a habit or always asking each other "how'd the kids do when you dropped them?". It's a little more polite than "did you leave the kid in the car?". People without kids don't realize how much they can cause you to be sleep-deprived and absent-minded.

ETA if I see a kid crying, sweating, and puking in a hot car I'm not waiting for the cops to show up... wtf is wrong with people

Believe it or not, car windows are not easy to break. You could throw a rock at it and it not break, but a cop with a specialized tool can shatter the glass with a couple taps. Crazy as it sounds, you can find videos on YouTube on how to shatter glass with just a tiny portion of porcelain from a spark plug.

Everyone should have a glass break tool in their car anyway.
