I don't have such a problem with it if it is thrown by someone else. However, my time table will not be dictated by that person. I will tell the people I want to tell prior to the party. My parents/grandparents/etc would have gotten a conversation well prior to the party. It's more of the people that do it for themselves that annoy me.

Since I have a newborn at the house now, we just went through this... I didn't mind the baby shower, but I put my foot down on the gender reveal party... That wasn't happening... To me, none of this nonsense ever took place before the boom in social media popularity... Now women are just screaming for attention with all this nonsense: reveal parties, maternity pictures, etc... None of this ever took place before Facebook burst on the scene...
At first, Mrs. Hangover was disappointed.. But after we went to the doctor with just our parents, she was glad that we did it like that without making a big scene about it... We called our close friends and other family and told them, then posted the ultrasound pic online and that's it...
Women are getting out of hand with the attention whoring and IMO, social media and their SOs are to blame
Flame away

Poor?
Wife won't let you get away that long?
Come on bro, be the man your wife truly wants you to be.
I hate myself for falling for your troll this early in the morning.

No one is saying you planned it.
However if my wife would have dropped that on me I would have said hell no.
My buddies aren't interested in that, neither am I.
We'll go play golf or hunt or whatever and you girls get your gender party freak on.

Who doesn't like parties? Food and booze and people...I swear some people on here amaze me with how anti-social they are. I guess that's a big reason why they're on here.
This is how I feel. I don't know if they play antisocial on here cause they think it's cool or that's really how they live.

k
I kinda wanted to know the the sex of my child, so that I why I attended
but if you don't care about that kind of thing, I guess that is cool

Hypocrisy at its finest. You abhor gender parties and blame Facebook for this trend, then turn around and use that same platform to announce the gender. Oh the sweet irony.

No stupid, that's just the easy way of telling the people who were interested in finding out...
It was a special moment, and not everyone was going to get a phone call so that was the easiest way to do it

I'm starting to wonder myself. And I've seen your posts here and people vouch for you, you're like some Grizzly Adams guy, not the OT beta that's always cast on people.

I went to one a few months back and it was terrible
Posted on 4/28/14 at 9:27 am to Mr. Tom Morrow
so let me get this logic
calling everyone and then just posting the gender on FB...ok
but having everyone over and feeding them and telling everyone the gender in person and at the same time...not ok
awesome logic OT

See that wouldn't work for me. I would want to tell my parents in person and I don't live near them. I wouldn't want it to be at a stupid party that I didn't even want thrown for myself. If you are alright with letting your friends dictate how you tell everyone, that is up to you. That is not what I did or wanted to do for my child. There are many different types of parents for better or worse.

I just want to say that I love free food and booze. I also enjoy hanging out with most of my friends.
This anomaly on here is quite entertaining to me right now
