I know, I just wanted to make a joke about the 80's rock thing.

But thanks for downvoting the joke. You need to lighten up a bit.

People don't realize that the gender is not the only thing that gets revealed at these parties if you play your cards right.

I don't think I've even stayed the entire time to a baby shower

but I've been to wedding showers before if the groom was there as well

same thing happens like any other party, the guys usually find some place to drink out back

Never been to one and I have 6 sisters. If I don't go to baby showers, no one should have to...

wedding showers?

Been to many "couples showers." Usually these are very adult-themed and involve lots of eating, drinking, etc... Really like attending "stock the bar" showers. Those are the best.

Never will understand how getting together with friends and family to celebrate a life event, hang out, have a good time, eat good food and drink a few beers is a waste of time. Again, maybe I'm just blessed to associate with awesome people who don't throw lame-arse parties and expect me to pay for unnecessary shite, but I like my friends...

Maybe social media has ruined it for me. Every time i get on Facebook or Instagram its all photos of kids and babies. Then those same people need parties for them repeatedly. Then their is some expectation to attend certain events, there always is some.

I guess its the self absorbed people who shove it in your face that make it unbearable.

Eta: on a side note. If i get invited to something, I tend to always make it However I don't seem to get invitations and such any longer to good friends kid's birthdays. Would you say its common to not get those invites if you don't have kids?

so are reveal parties for the most part

No they aren't, they are much more of an everyone party. Baby showers and wedding showers are normally thrown by women friends/family of the wife. Gender reveal parties are normally thrown by the husband and wife. You have an active role in that one.

Agreed. Generally speaking, self-absorbed people make everything unbearable.

Ding ding ding.

Sooner people realize that other people don't care about you as much as you think they do or should, better off we will all be.

Thats not the norm, the norm is the parents doing it. We have already had this conversation and you pretty much admitted it's pinterest bullshite in the previous threads. When did you become such a champion for these asinine events?

Yes exactly.
Besides the insecure part.

Can't golf huh?
Poor?
Wife won't let you get away that long?

Come on bro, be the man your wife truly wants you to be.

oh I definitely still blame Pinterest for all of this, that is where the popularity of it came from and the pressure for them to look perfect and whatnot.

I've always been apathetic towards these types of things. If the wife wants to have some party, fine by me. If I think it is stupid, I'll just tell her that I don't want to do anything for preparation. I'll show up and be sociable, but I'm not stressing over the details.
