Life is phases. When that baby arrives, your before baby life is over. Accept that and learn to be a good parent. You will have to figure it out with your wife. If you are a self centered shithead you’ll hate being a parent because it is no longer about you. You can still enjoy life, but it’s not what it was before.

Congrats, my first was born in 1977
You will find that as you progress from formula to baby food just how expensive baby food can get. You will also find that when the kid is hungry it means right now.
There is a cure. You will need a blender and old style ice cube trays. Take the food that you cook (yes you will have to cook with very little seasoning) and run the meat through the blender on puree. Now pour it into a ice cube tray. Repeat process for vegetables. Put the ice cube trays into the freezer. Once they are frozen, pop out the cubes into a good quality zip lock bag, one bag for meat and one bag for vegetables.
When it is time to feed the kid, microwave 1 cube of meat and then one of vegetables. Once you figure out what the kid likes, use more ice cube trays and zip lock bags for a week at a time.
You will get an urge to toss the kid into the air and catch them in order to make them laugh. It will also make them vomit, usually on your face or open mouth. You will not enjoy this process.

Always check to see if your baby is breathing and be careful of the neck area. Baby can breath very softly where it doenst look like their chest are moving at all and that is freaky as frick but normal.

We have a 2 year old and will have another in April......it's not all rainbows and roses BUT personally I believe the negatives are fairly overblown
The other poster is right though, my house is a total and complete disaster and there's no end in sight

Look for coupons and buy diapers now. If the sizes available now are too big, get them anyway. You will use them later. They will also be way more expensive later, so start stocking up now.
Thank me later...
Thank me later...

Got to love the OT jokes, but let me drop some knowledge on you. Start a collage fund now, even if money is tight. Every little bit helps. This saved my arse later . Seriously look at where you live and what schools are available. Private school was hitting me hard in the pocket book. REAL HARD. Start paying your church dues if you are going the catholic school route. They will check if you have been paying and being excepted will depend on it. I didn’t do that and it cost me more at another private school. DO NOT get conned into the travel ball hussle.

One more thing…… the Doctors and nurses will tell you to look at the baby as it comes out because it a beautiful thing. It wasn’t that way at all for me. Wish I never looked . They need to go back to Dads in the waiting room thing. Kinda joking/ Kinda not! You got this bro! Time to step up!

Work out those baby+ car seat carrying muscles. Nothing you can really do to prepare you for the missed sleep but that 8lb baby will became 10...15...30 + real fast

Buy a Nose Frida & saline mist. The concept is gross, but those things are amazing when your baby has a cold & doesn’t understand how to blow his/her nose.

Do not let the child change its gender at age 10.

Bunch of first kid answers in here, I have 3 and they made me laugh.
Wife and I are done, but one of the things I will miss is pregnant sex. Get it as often as you can. Doggy works till she's in labor
I will apparently be in the minority when I say the first few months are easy. You may lose an hour or 2 of sleep a night, that's it. With our third I worked full time with him home for the first 3 months.
Establish a routine early, stick to it, that will help.
Most of all don't be afraid to live your life, want to go out to eat? Go. Bring the kid. Want to go to friends? Go, bring the kid.
The more you both get used to it the better it will be.

bullshite. It’s terrible and why I only have one kid. Anyone you meet with more that 2-3 kids has mental issues or a live in nanny.

Just prepare yourself not to sleep for a while. No one told me that and it was a huge torcher chamber moment. If you have in your mind that your sleep will be fricked for a while I think it will be easier to get through.
