What exactly makes LA and MS so bad? I can’t imagine thinking about where I live and feeling so self conscious about it as some of you. Aside from extreme weather what could be so bad about any place in America?

Education, average household income, crime rates, Healthcare, economic opportunities? The Dakotas blow us away in those metrics from a statewide standpoint.

I think the problem with IQ as a measure of anything is no matter how many studies there are out there proving that instability, trauma, and poverty (not to mention drug or alcohol consumption while pregnant) cause profound changes in childhood brain development, people still assume that intelligence is purely genetic.

I’ve spent time in the dakotas. If it weren’t for hot soup I’m not sure what else they would have to talk about

You might hate it and quality of life is fairly subjective, so we are trying to place objective measures on a subjective topic, but LA is always near the bottom or last in most of these types of rankings.
