Louisiana should introduce new law that says if driver is uninsured then no one in his/her automobile is eligible for any insurance money even if its not their fault.

I’m surprised low rent insurance is not a bigger thing in Louisiana. Texas is filled with undocumented folk driving around with sham minimum policies that they pay $39/month for. Just need it to show the cops.

Weird because they went down at first for certain providers. Then most were giving credits for less driving during pandemic.

Premiums are priced to cover the amount of money expected to be paid on a claim. Claims in Louisiana pay out a lot more than in Texas so premiums are more expensive to compensate. There’s plenty of people in Louisiana rocking minimum policies and any accident, no matter how minor, will just need a few months of chiropractic treatment for their “injuries” to force the insurance company to pay those $15,000 minimum policy limits.

In Louisiana, accidents are essentially a lottery ticket. You don’t know how much money the other guy’s insurance policy will pay, but as long as you are willing to undergo chiropractic or physical therapy and let a doctor inject an epidural steroid into your spine a few times, you can try to force them to pay those limits to protect their insureds from the threat of having to pay the excess portion of a trial judgment that exceeds their policy limits.

The bill that passed was a joke. But it also just went into effect and has not yet had time to have any effect. I don’t believe that it will have the effect that it was predicted to, but it is way too early to be making any assessments.

Well, this is a lie. And, basically none of the suits subject to the new law have been tried. No telling how many suits will now not be filed because the defense gets a jury. This is nothing but trial lawyer bullshite.
