19 deaths in 7 years which pushing out hundreds of thousands of people a year. pretty good stat if you ask me.

I went through this while in school. on of my pledge brothers died. it sucked. Prayers to everyone involved.

This is an awful tragedy, and I am sad for this young man's family.

LSU will undoubtedly overreact to this.

I'm sure that those plans to sell alcohol in the stadium for example - like the beer garden, for instance - are going to be delayed for a long time.

Yeah but there are ways to make people miserable without endangering anyone.
Hell just get a fit person to run them and make them workout everyday. Way shittier than being forced to drink alcohol especially if you're a fat out of shape 18 year old kid.

Roughly 750k current active greek members in the US (in school). 19 deaths in 17 years.

Yes, it is rare.

You grow closer with a group (pledge class) when you experience shitty situations together. Solidarity. Ive experienced this outside of pledgeship too with other groups. Most hazing is productive but some acts (forced alcohol consumption) are idiotic and not beneficial in any way shape or form.

When the shitty situation is manufactured by your future brothers it's a bunch of bullshite. I'm sorry.

I dont disagree and I dont think most individuals in fraternities would disagree with you. Cruelty for the sake of cruelty is bs.

Any stats available that show how many non-greek students die from alcohol poisoning?

19 deaths in 7 years. How many would be too many?

Frats are silly wastes of time. You can still see the DKE burnt into my friends chest, 11 years later. Silly.

That is the current rumour. Most frat guys would laugh and hang up.

The real takeaway.

It takes 3 or 4 years post college to shed that false sense of superiority.

DKE is a different animal. You can't compare them to any other chapter.
