Austinites, how are things looking in Travis County?

Since our wonderful mayor has decided to issue another round of draconian sanctions upon Orleans Parish, Ms. DS and I were talking about leaving town for a long weekend next week. I haven’t been back to Austin since our lord and savior Joseph Burrow gave the horn fans the prom queen wave goodbye and was wondering how hospitable central Texas currently is for someone who hasn’t had a bomb taco at the White Horse in far too long?

Same as ever for the most part
Except Rummy won’t let us come back to his club until the fall at the earliest. Bars and stuff wide open

There’s kind of a glorious pissing match where our republican governor shits on the whacko liberal mayor every chance he gets
The whacko liberal mayor doubles as a retard as well
The governor goes out of his way to overrule any local restrictions that get passed

Arguably the best job market in the country.
Best real estate market in the country.
Tech companies creating thousands of high paying jobs.
It’s REALLY SAD.

The homeless situation is out of control but good chance that gets tightened up soon.
I find it rather unbelievable the city allows private individuals to co-opt public lands like that.
I think the slum across from city hall finally got to them.

Not exclusive to ATX.
Several metropolitan areas with populations of a million or more are dealing with their own homeless situations.

Don’t surrounding areas literally round up their homeless and dump them out by the ATX convention center?
That’s not really the direction of the thread I’m looking for, just talking about covid related restrictions.

No
But the surrounding areas look at homeless camps less favorably and have fully funded police forces
I feel like it is rare to see a cop car anymore

Funny that none of those top cities are traditional, longtime members of that list. Wonder why?

Shockingly some people can look at each issue individually and draw their own conclusions rather than picking a political sports team to live and die with mindlessly.
