At this point things got very real and he pulled out his collapsible baton and hit her on the forearm above where she had the knife. Her arm obviously broke, as it now took a 90 degree turn.

Here is the fricked up part; she didn’t drop the knife. Her arm is broken and dangling and she doesn’t drop it. She never flinched, never cried out, nothing. She started flinging her broken arm and knife at him again. He swung again and hit her on the hand, nothing. He swung again and hit the knife and finally it came out of her hand. I stepped on it so she couldn’t pick it back up and they cuffed her. She was still trying to hit us the whole way to the car.

I would say a lot of people have never seen TRUELY crazy up close. Not the false bravado of ‘ I’m crazy fricker, don’t mess with me’, but real and true crazy. Point A to point C doesn’t go through point B with these folk. It is really something to behold.

I don’t know what happened with that cop and lady in Australia, so it is not for me to judge. Once you have seen real crazy you will never forget it. Do not underestimate what real crazy can do.

I've seen a 93 year old guy sundown hard and throw down with some nurses over at Touro. Over the night shift I heard he almost wacked one with an IV pole but she ducked or moved back or whatever then they call asking to get some Ativan lol. I can't judge the actual situation because I wasn't there but I get it. Grab the knife possibly get stabbed or cut. dogpile her and possibly kill her. Wrestle with her and possibly kill her. family already failed at de escalation. Just a bad situation and the lady is better off as she probably had no idea where or who she was anymore.

There's zero reason why a cop should have to get stabbed when there's an alternative, such as tasing. frick that. I'm not running a 30% of getting sliced with a serrated blade.

I spent yesterday with a mean 90+ lady using a walker. I can’t even begin to list the number of ways in which this woman could have destroyed all of us. During any of the 45 second long fork to mouth lifts from her plate she could have put that thing through someone’s neck. I told my wife we’re leaving early before she gets up and goes mobile. 3 hours later I saw her coming towards us and I kool-aid manned through the wooden fence and got out of there

Multiple officers there. Distract her, have one of the officers walk up behind her, and grab her wrist.

At most. They probably could’ve just let her walk around for 5 minutes and she’d be ready for a nap.

It’s a frail 95 year old lady with a walker, not like you’re trying to manually disarm JJ Watt. She’s lucky they didn’t call SWAT, or wind up getting Mag dumped by multiple terrified officers.

Police have a tough job, but they also need to use some common sense to defuse situations.
