Ran across this picture yesterday. That's a whole lot of awesome.

4 IB 18's in the attic:

He needs to stop playing around with speakers and fix that fricking insulation.

I’d be worried about it shaking loose everything up there

I suspect being a responsible homeowner is a low priority for that person.

4 18s in a tiny arse sealed setup? Someone has zero idea about efficiency or what they’re doing. A single 18 in a properly built 4th order would likely sound significantly better and louder than that setup.

I mean, it's not like he's sitting up in the attic listening to Skynard. That is a downward firing box with 4 Infinite Baffle subs.

My first reaction was, "that's ridiculous - I would burn his house down if I lived next door and his roof was rattling all night". But, if he built that for watching movies it would be pretty damn cool.

You don’t know what your talking about. This setup is uses the attic as it’s “box”. They are IB subs, infinite baffle, so it doesn’t use a “box”. It just needs a solid surface between you and the back of the subs like the speakers in your car. That “box” is open on the bottom with a screen likely. So it fills the room with 4 18s worth of bass without taking up any floor space.

Took 12 posts for someone to clue in on it being an infinite baffle setup. Also, four 18" drivers is not overkill, you need a minimum of two 15's in a small room with an IB setup. This is done to get low-distortion bass, not SPL's.
