Josh Duggar is on the list

Common sense tells you we're going to see A LOT of these news articles pop up in the next few weeks, which will completely destroy the credibility of this leak. There will be a ton of fake articles out there, no one will know or care how to get to the source of truth. The internet is a fricked up place.

"Your email address was reported as having been exposed on Ashley Madison or Adult Friend Finder. Unfortunately, this means a lot of your most personal information can easily be found, including your sexual preferences and other highly compromising information.

Because you’ve been exposed, you need to know exactly what kind of information is out there. This kind of information can affect your job, love life, mortgages, and anything else where a background check is required. However, to truly understand the extent of how much damaging information is accessible about you online, you need an expert who knows where to look and has access to special databases unavailable to the general public.

Get help from a online researcher and/or surveillance expert, who can identify the extent of the problem and explain how you can fix it before it has life-ruining consequences."

How do I tell my boss I found his email address?

I didn't check but I bet that's a "GOTCHA!" link that makes fun of guilty people for checking if their name was in there.

I know minez ain't.

There are both verified and unverified email addresses in the release.

Okay, here's the thing. I never used these sites, and i was testing these links. I typed in my own email, and one says I WAS in the list, and one says I wasnt. So what the hell? Obviously there are bullshite websites related to this.

Oh, but you should trust in the genius brethren of the OT and assume that there CANNOT be multiple lists

Everything you see on the internet is true!!

Literally - in what the hackers sought to accomplish here, the list would have had to been publicized by Obama himself in order for people to take this shite seriously. There are going to be so many fake emails added to the list, fake articles on celebrities and politicians, and this is going to get out of hand very fast. So many exploits headed your way...someone mentioned honeypot scenarios which is going to become a big money maker for some crooks. I hope these hackers are put in jail for this shitstorm they're about to create. It's a shame that so many people think this is a good thing.

This just shows how dangerous the internet is. Cyber wars will become a real thing in the near future.

Im guessing these are sites hoping to get a click to a different site, and basically everyone's email comes up roses.

ETA: In fact, just make up any random email that you can think of and type it into THIS site.

And I typed in my email twice, and once it said "Compromised" and the next time it said "You're not compromised".

Yep, and these sites are going to exploit the situation (like so many others soon will) to steal people's information. It's sad.

It should be noted that finding someone’s email address or name on the list doesn’t necessarily mean that person was a real user. As computer security blogger Graham Cluley explains, Ashley Madison did not verify email addresses for new accounts:

...I could have created an account at Ashley Madison with the address of barack.obama@whitehouse.gov, but it wouldn’t have meant that Obama was a user of the site... Journalists and commentators would be wise to remember that the credentials stored by Ashley Madison must be considered suspect because of their shonky practices, even before you start considering whether any leaked databases are falsified or not.

AM had a weak to non-existent verification system. Basically, anyone could open an account with your email but not close the deal with payment info.

The only thing that could make the information reliable is if they are able to prove any credit card purchases through site. The names linked to the purchases would be very difficult to fake or doctor.

Negative. The release contains verified/not verified data based on a Boolean integer.

Interesting, I entered my maiN burner email into three different compromised/not compromised engines, the only one that came back compromised was the trustify one that is actively soliciting clients. For the record I was not a member on that address

So, are you saying they cant distinguish between the verified/unverified data based on the format of the data they were able to acquire? How do they know that this Josh Duggar character made purchases?
