Holy shite, if it wasn't so bad it would be hilarious. What jurisdiction is this?
Are you going to the 2nd class, or will he need to find a different friend? Did ask the lady giving the class if she was free for drinks after...as his penance your friend is buying

When I worked labor jobs in college, we always did this. After a hot summer day working outside, that quitting time 24 oz beer on the way home is a top 3 beer in life.
First beer when you get to vacation spot
First beer at airport when going on fun trip
First beer after yard work
All contenders, but the quitting time, especially Friday, after busting your arse in the heat for 9 hours, is just divine.

I've never heard of that. Why would they make you drag someone completely independent of the crime to your punishment
Someone has to be the designated driver.

Because then the OP’s story about his DWI class wouldn’t make sense.

That’s like me telling a bunch of NBA players how to play basketball.
The coach of the team favored to win the NBA title this year never played basketball. So maybe you'd have a shot

I went into AA mtg 12 steps long ago. Took 6 steps inside and immediately 6 steps U-turn through exit door.
Place full of salt of Earth people with court white papers for AA signing who were there for mandatory mtgs (presumably DWI’ers).
Not there w/hearts and minds. Just there perfunctorily.

He’s got someone else for the next class. Obviously you need to pay the price for breaking the law, but 90% of the stuff they are making him do is comical and won’t help his issue. Why not just fine someone more vs doing bullshite. On top of that we as citizens have to pay the salaries of these people that are worthless. Again, smells of MADD

Weird they make people bring a friend.
They want you to tell your friends you got a DWI, adding to the shame and increased social pressure in the future.

I do this at least 3x a week. In college we called 24 oz "2x4's". At home I drink 1x2's.

So he called you for the DWI class but not when he could have avoided the DWI. Sounds bout right.

That is still a thing. I work with some 20 somethings and they call it that.

If a beer company could bottle the way THAT beer tastes, it would drive all others out of business.
Nothing like a beer after doing hard manual labor in the summer.

MADD was an idea that started out with the best of intentions but has devolved into a cash grab. MADD is still pushing for lower BAC limits of .06 and in some cases complete sobriety at .00 while driving.
When we get to fully automous cars, what will MADD do?
