Why does being gay need to be celebrated in today's world? What's the purpose of this?

The LGBT community of Atlanta has contributed so much to a lot of neighborhoods it's pretty ridiculous to complain about this.

What other groups have contributed enough to earn $200k in funding for special crosswalks in your opinion?

None. LGBT is the most valuable community in midtown Atlanta.

Correct if I'm wrong but the sidewalks needed redone anyways and the city just painted them with rainbows?

What's the big deal here..

With the taxes the gay community pays to schools they don't use.

how are the straight taxpayers that don't use the schools rewarded?

ETA: I would think more taxes are collected from straight people without kids than the gay community

All of the once good/great cities of the South, are being ruined by these SJWs/Democrats.

It really is a shame.

I have only one question after seeing this. Are they saying they will repaint these crosswalks every year? If so, where can I put in a bid? They paid almost $200k to have this done. I believe I could knock this out for $150k with a couple of helpers from the OT without any problem. Gotta love those government contracts spending tax dollars on such projects, and paying an unbelievable amount. Probably some local politician's relative made out on this job, even after kicking half of it back to his politician relative.

Although removing monuments is much more lucrative, you need to rent heavy equipment and hire security. This is just chump change as government contracts go, but it wouldn't wake much to paint the crosswalks at one intersection, even if you make them rainbows. Hell, I'd even throw in painting a unicorn in the middle of the intersection.

I don't know that I view any symbol representing some "group" as a symbol of unity. Usually, they are somewhat exclusionary.

The activist groups want special treatment.

ETA: The sidewalks are well-designed. Also, since a higher percentage of blacks disapprove of homosexuality, this may not go well for the Mayor.

I think it benifits everyone to live amongst an educated (relative) populace.

In old age they are going to get all that back plus some, if they live to be old.
