MARTA needs a new name and rebrand.
It’s inefficient and outdated. You can often commute faster to work than taking MARTA. When I worked out at Perimeter it was an 18-20 min drive vs a 50 minute MARTA trip. That’s insane.
There’s really no reason to even use MARTA with the various ride share services especially when going to airport or sporting event.
I haven’t used MARTA since the very last Braves home game at Turner Field. Never had any issues when using it but I prefer not to be around low iq or poor people and that is 80% of MARTA customer base.

Used to ride MARTA from the airport to Buckhead all the time. Never had a problem.

The last time I rode Marta was right after Covid and it was still cold in the mornings. It was a Saturday morning and it was nothing but what seemed like homeless people and smelled like piss. All the way from Doraville station to the airport. Haven't ridden it since. Never seemed that bad in the past.

Still faster to drive
Not to the Airport or events at MCB or State Farm
And you don't have to worry about parking.

I've ridden the MARTA from airport to Doraville and back about 15-20 times over the last 28 years. Only had to detour once but witnessed a few crackheads answering their own questions.

At best MARTA just helps keep your rideshare fare low. It doesn’t seem to really get you anywhere useful except the arenas and airport.
The new trains will be great for the kids selling candy for their junky moms and the guys who announce “I just got out of jail. At least I’m asking you for money instead of robbing you”.

Where were you commuting from?

Do they have plans to ever put more track?
They need to have a route go north west along 75 towards that part of Cobb.

Long-range plans but aside from the proposed light-rail extension to the Beltline, no funding (and not likely under Trump’s USDOT).

I would do unspeakable things for a MARTA extension to Cobb (it would go right near my house).

quote:I rode it at least once or twice a week during my first couple of years in Atlanta without issue. I certainly never felt unsafe in any major way. The only time I remember feeling a little uncomfortable was when a couple of sawed-off, tatted-up white boys were loudly trying to one-up each other with bar fight stories. Their language was replete with one four-syllable obscenity in particular.
And FWIW, I've never had an issue with MARTA.
