yeah..thankfully it's pretty rare because it takes a "perfect storm" for this type of thing to happen in most instances

neg·li·gence noun \'ne-gli-j?n(t)s\
: failure to take the care that a responsible person usually takes : lack of normal care or attention
Full Definition of NEGLIGENCE
1
a : the quality or state of being negligent
b : failure to exercise the care that a reasonably prudent person would exercise in like circumstances
2
: an act or instance of being negligent
negligence noun (Concise Encyclopedia)
In law, failure to exercise the degree of care expected of a person of ordinary prudence in protecting others from a risk of harm. It may render one civilly and sometimes criminally liable for resulting injuries. The doctrine of negligence does not require the elimination of all risk, but rather only foreseeable and unreasonable risk. Thus a higher standard applies to explosives manufacturers than to manufacturers of kitchen matches. The plaintiff must ordinarily prove the defendant's negligence with a preponderance of evidence. See also contributory negligence.

Murder is a pretty harsh penalty.

I haven't seen the word murder here.
Murder is not a penalty.
Murder is not a penalty.

Those are awful stories. You would think maybe the car seat manufactures could create a buzzer or something that would remind a parent.

My wife is due any day, stories like this make me cringe

Fifteen to twenty five per annum is not countless, by the way.
Again, there are three hundred million people here, many with children.
Since we're attacking words, many of that 300 million are children, so the way you say that is misleading.

In 2013, 43 children died from vehicle-induced heat stroke.
10 or so per month.
10 or so per month.

Every year there are four million births. That means approximately ten million babies, maybe more. Of those ten million, fifteen to fifty is pretty rare, which makes this negligent.

I think a murder charge is absurd.
His country has retarded itself. Entirely.

And this is where people seem to throw all common sense out the window. It isn't the normal instances where people are forgetting their kids.
Heck, this guy was already on his way home from work when he finally noticed.

The charges are odd, so are the DA statements. "This investigation is far, far from over" and "we don't know where this will lead"?
I would think first degree child cruelty would be intentional. I'm just not sure what they're doing here.

I understand his life and that of his family is in shambles. Will they recover? Who knows?
However, it is negligence and conviction with suspended sentence is not enough. He needs to do time.
