So we don't sell stuff for a couple of weeks. Why is that irreparable?

So what number is old age? What's going to stop "the powers that be" from deciding that when you reach retirement is the age and they need to be taken out..You know they are such a drain on society..Remember you will be an old frick one day..

That's what this is. Not something that will happen every year with the flu. If the symptoms were more severe I think people would not be quick to dismiss. Or if it was killing children.

Scientists have been predicting for a long time that the world was due for another pandemic. It wasn't a matter of "if" but "when"

That’s a lot of maybes that is beyond what has been announced. I’ll give you a fact though. If we don’t take extreme social distancing measures, we WILL overwhelm the hospitals. There’s still the possibility that the hospitals will be overwhelmed anyway. I’ll share an email I got the other day from my mother that is a hospice nurse in the state. She’s been put on ready to assist with triage and emergency planning. What’s so hard to wrap your head around? Life > job. That’s not even a debate.


Also, theres already a fiscal stimulus plans being worked in. The government isn’t going to allow people to starve.

Also, what’s the economic impact if we just let it run rampant through the populous without social distancing measures? Are you positive that scenario is better than shutting the country down for a month or so? Or course you don’t know.

I agree wholeheartedly. I'm not saying jobs are more important. I'm saying that when people lose their jobs at a high rate it will lead to more deaths across society. Would it be more than the virus will cause? I don't know. Neither do you.

Hopefully these measures will work in short order, and we can return to normal before any of that happens. If these measures do work quickly, and we return to life as normal I will be the first to say I was wrong.

Chiming in while eating my corona pb&j on the front line:

It’s hysterical how many armchair healthcare experts we have in society the past few days. It’s refreshing to know so many people have the answers on something we’ve literally never seen. And stop comparing this to swine flu and H1N1. Swine claimed over 4k lives and H1N1 over 10k. We’re trying to avoid numbers like that and need the cooperation of some of the dumbest population on the planet. Not exactly an easy thing to pull off.
