Every 5 years regardless of age

Written test for everyone every 6 months with two sections. Driving in left lane and driving with hazards on.

I think you should take on every ten years from your 16th birthday.

First off, it should be much, MUCH harder at 16. Like in another stratosphere harder.
Then an easier refresher with eye test every 5 years starting at 60.
ETA:
And underage kids can't vote against this
It would lower insurance rates and make roads safer.

Explain. Seems very reasonable to me.
I think it should be based on physical and mental ability. Not age. Some 70 year olds get around in wheel chairs. Some can run marathons. Some 25 year olds can run marathons. Some have to send snap chats at 55 mph.
I would be in favor of maybe a one time test starting at age 70.. your grade determines how soon you return for another test. Maybe 1 year, maybe 10, maybe license revoked on the spot.

Renew drivers license every 3 years with a short video test on a computer and an eye test.
Re-take driving test every 6 years no matter your age, not some bullshite drive around the parking lot make a u-turn bullshite either. Have to get on and off a controlled access hwy, park in a parking lot and parallel park.....
If you fail either one take a 2-3 hour class on how to drive and re-take the test.

Instead of age, why not accidents? If you are involved in 3 accidents, you retake a driving education course and the test. All subsequent accidents after the third the same.

15-17 - every 9 months (4 times total)
18-20 - yearly (3 times total)
21-25 - every other year (2 times total)
26-69 - renew every 4 years
70-74 - every other year (2 times total)
75-79 yearly ( 4 times total)
80+ - every 6 months

quote:Lol. Yearly check up at age 70 to see if your mental faculties have diminished to the point of making you a hazard on the road is "ridiculous"? Gonna have to disagree with you there, chap.
Lol. Ridiculous.

The hell with age. Just base it off your driving record. The more accidents/tickets you get, the more often you have to take driving/written test...and pay for the services of the DMV of course

I say 65 and every 5 years after that.
I think it should be based on number of tickets and number of wrecks.

My father is 85 and has not had an accident or ticket in over 40 years and my sister is 53 with 7 vehicles totaled in the last 10 years. Guess which one I won't ride with.

They should just monitor all cars. Habitual speeders lose their license.

I would say every ten years. There's no way some of these frickers legally or honestly passed their motor vehicle test.

LOL, my Dad renewed earlier this year at age 86 with only the eye test.
His next renewal, age 92, can be by mail/internet for a license good till he's 98.

Should be harder to get one to begin with.
