It depends on the kid. I'll let my 12 year old stay home for a few hours by herself. She's a very responsible kid.

My mom let me stay by myself when I was 9 but she always trusted me. My son is 8 but I have to see how he matures in the next couple years to feel comfortable leaving him by himself in a few years.

Depends on where you live. Times are very different now and letting kids just go wherever they want and letting them stay at home by themselves could be very risky now a days with all the culcha and crime

I went from Columbia S.C. to Baton Rouge with a layover in Atlanta at 7 years old by myself. They were supposed to have somebody guide me to my connecting flight but nobody did. Got on the tram and found my flight. So I say 7 years old.

My parents divorced when I was around 13/14, my dad often had to go to NC for his job and I couldnt miss school. He'd leave me money for food and leave for a week at a time. I got up and went to school by myself and took care of my own meals and laundry ect while he was gone. Every kid is different though.
