In 2022 sure, but in 1776 they were probably the first to sign up.

They were authoritarian boot licking cucks then. Not much has changed in the subsequent 246 years.

I thought it was New York, due to their delegates not getting instructions so they abstained.

But also PA just didnt show up right? Did they vote later or something? Or am I just misremembering my history lessons from 25 years ago?

Dickinson didn’t show up because he didn’t want to cast a vote against the majority, so PA voted yes

If the Articles of Confederation were in force first, Dickinson probably would have voted for independence. I think he was the head of the committee that drafted the Articles of Confederation.

Dickinson deserves credit. He tried everything he could to achieve reconciliation and avoid war. He also did everything he could to make sure there was a functioning American government at the start.

You didn't mention that the 13th was new York. A city infested with British sympathetizers whom thought they knew best for the country and something they've not given up since.

I didn't say they voted against. They abstained because they didn't have instructions. They didn't have instructions because they were torn internally, lots of Tory sentiment and commercial incentive to stay with the empire. The other side had revolutionary fervor and an understandable desire to go along with the other 12.

I wish we could vote for independence from these dumbass liberals.

So what you are saying is that you think this country should be ruled under one ideology? There would be no need for an election.

I always thought that in theory, this country was designed so that all or each party propose what they want to do and they compromise.. they all leave not getting exactly what they wanted because if all of a sudden there was one side saying "okay this is out platform and this will be the law of the land whether everyone is okay with it or not" would be a dictatorship.
