I’m not claiming Yelp is perfect but it is a better regulator of restaurants than the Health Dept.
I have no idea about bitcoin but this anology fails tremendously.
The Health Department is there to prevent gross negligence. It is one of the proactive governmental bodies.
Yelp is Facebook. Facebook does nothing to actually fix anything. You may even say that Facebook spreads rumors and untruths.
Now, continue with the crypto currency debate. I’m finding all of this interesting.
My big question is how do you keep your bitcoins safe? Isn’t this all just stored on a hard drive somewhere? If someone steals your computer then you’re just shite out of luck aren’t you?

The Health Dept is a joke.

Look back a couple pages where my question about Tether getting 31 million stolen by a hacker was glossed over by the fanbase

I’m guessing you’re being sarcastic, but you can file a fraud claim with your bank and possibly get all of your normal cash back. But there is no recourse with bitcoin.
Am I correct or wrong?

Terrible comparison. You have recourse on bank accounts, credit cards, etc. you have no recourse if you get cleaned out of btc

coinbase is FDIC insured to $250k
whats your bank?
Posted on 11/29/17 at 12:51 pm to rocket31
On your cash probably, not your btc. The federal government is not going to insure a monetary instrument that it doesn’t control

Crap. I’m gonna have to find 7 other FDIC sites to store my btc. This is really starting to become a pain in the arse.

TBH if I had over ~10 mil in BTC, I would liquidate at least half of it right now and not work anymore

FDIC is insurance in case a bank fails, not if someone steals your shite.
Again, I’m just asking questions. I actually find crypto currency a fascinating idea. I’m no financial advisor nor a computer wiz.

Oh really? Like how you were just wrong about your btc being FDIC insured? Guess you’ll not respond to that as well

I just found out my coworker got in super early (like around $10 per)
Dude started using bitcoins just to buy drugs and fell into the best investment of his life

All digital currency that Coinbase holds online is fully insured. This means that if Coinbase were to suffer a breach of its online storage, the insurance policy would pay out to cover any customer funds lost as a result.
The insurance policy covers any losses resulting from a breach of Coinbase’s physical security, cyber security, or by employee theft.

Dude! This is like the trashy version of my scenario on the other page! LOL
How much does he have?
Posted on 11/29/17 at 12:56 pm to rocket31
That’s not FDIC insurance, that’s liability insurance
Why don’t you read the part where it says you USD wallet is covered by FDIC insurance
It also says most of the BTC is stored offsite/offline and says nothing about insuring that
