Not that anyone here actually cares but it’s not surprising the USPSTF said this as they are always quite conservative when it comes to interventions.

yup, they were conservative about changing certain cancer screening ages while the ACG, ATS, ACS, etc were starting to shift gears.

there's typically a trial that comes out and a paradigm shift that takes place over the next few years if the trials are significant.

occurred with earlier age for colonoscopy and if this holds true, it'll occur over the next few years as well for aspirin as a primary prevention.

Trouble is, whether they are aware of it or not, in my experience most everyone over 60 has had a heart attack and/or a stroke.

But all doctors are always right and all have the same opinions on treatments.

I'll have to ask my doctor what he thinks of this. I've been on low dose aspirin since my stroke last year but it was high blood pressure that caused it, not blood clots and I thought clots are what the aspirin were supposed to help with though I may be wrong about that.

It's definitely got my curiosity up but I'm going to have to solicit advice because I have no idea about how any of this stuff works. It's all Chinese arithmetic to me

Older adults without heart disease shouldn't take daily low-dose aspirin to prevent a first heart attack or stroke, an influential health guidelines group said in preliminary updated advice released Tuesday.

Welp this will not affect the recommendations for people living in La, Ms, Bama, and Arkansas.

This thread is more of an example of how the medical community and research/science industry have completely fricked themselves via public perception.

I know as a medic I’ve given aspirin to people having an MI my entire career but we are usually late to the game when it comes to changes

That isn’t what is being said.

That stays the same.

This is for prophylaxis in healthy people over 60 without CAD, stroke history, etc.

Knock on wood, I haven't caught Covid. I've been around people who had it (and not knowing they had it at the time)... I take an Aspirin every day with my daily vitamins.

Im not saying just because I take one everyday and I haven't caught Covid is enough to say that it is true, but if it is true then I guess it couldn't hurt.

And Yahoo is shite. Anything that they publish is pure shite.

Every aspirin study ive seen only showed like a 1-2% benefit in “healthy” people.

Seems pretty low. I'd say take it if you want, but not worth some big push to get everyone to do it.

Apropos of nothing, what's the ARR for the covid vaccine in hethy people?
