In a past life, I did a fair amount of substituting. I enjoyed it but the pay is next to nothing and of course it is nothing like teaching. I WAS popular with the teachers though because I got the stuff done. It helped being male, short-haired, and kind of gruff.

Yes, professionalism goes along way in any field. I think teachers should have a required dress code and/or uniform.
