Ascension Parish Elementary Schools

We are looking at moving there soon so Im looking for opinions on the elementary schools. We would like to find a house close to BR or has the easiest commute but school quality is really our #1 priority. Any suggestions or schools to avoid would be appreciated.

As opposed to where else would you suggest? There are other factors we are considering but we feel Ascension is the right choice at this time.

Easy. Dont send them to a school that feeds into east ascension high school as you should be good.

Enjoy the fresh chemical plant air.

Move to Geismar. It's five minutes from Highland Road, you're in an excellent school district at every level, and the houses are nice.

Traffic keeps getting worse and worse
Only good thing is Geismar Dutchtown area is pretty much landlocked, not too many more subdivisions they can add.
Schools are fine for now, they just keep getting bigger and bigger though. The high school is very big but eventually Prairieville will have a new high school at some point.
The new middle school will be built off Bluff down from Spanish Lake and I believe another school is slated for down 73 going towards Airline at some point. Traffic will be a nightmare.

Really. I had a thread earlier about the commute and it did not sound too bad. If I leave AP right before 7:00 and leave BR around 4:00 it should be on most days about 30min each way. Do you disagree?

Lake Elementary is an outstanding A rated school - feeds St. Amant

You can't have all this.

You'll be fine at those times. There's a lot of stupid in this thread starting with the a$$ clown trying to be funny asking why move to AP for good schools. As willcover said Spanish Lake is great, buy a home that feeds into Spanish Lake. It's an awesome school, with energetic staff. The principal is very involved, and all the kids love him. You'll get the feeling that it's a private school it's run so completely different than what public school perception is. Stay in Dutchtown area as best you can. By time your child is old enough the new high school will be finished. We moved here 12 years ago, and don't regret it one bit. In fact building a new home right now in HOD neighborhood to get a tad more room. Ask anything I'm happy to answer honestly on living here.

Traffic is bad, especially with more and more subdivisions becoming prevalent

Oakbourne
Hollows at Dutchtown
and some expensive arse neighborhood down on 73 before you reach 30, where Geismar Grocery used to be is being developed (gated community).

If you have a choice go with dutchtown. Wife taught DMS there for 7 years it's incredible. Both daughters went to Pre-K there

It's going to be a nice neighborhood. My only concern is the new school that is going to be built across the street. Traffic will be an even bigger cluster.
I really like being south of the interstate. Many options with 74, 30 and Bluff Road to get in and out.
