As technology advances, why do kids even need to be gathered together in schools?

As VR and networking abilities advance is it an antiquated notion that children have to gather together in a school building?

Because socialization isn't just for puppies.

Socialization, learning to deal with other people, part of the maturity process, so parents can work all day while there kids are somewhere else, extracurricular activities, mentors, human interactions, etc...

At our core, we are animals. We're meant to socialize and be outside and interact with the world.

You give a child a computer screen and sit him inside and cut him off from human interaction and you'll raise a psychopath.

So who’s going to watch the kids when parents are at work?

You didn’t think this all the way through, as is typical with your hair-braided posts.

Interesting to think about. I just read "Ready Player One" which is set about 30 years in the future and involves this concept. Basically kids log in to their virtual reality through headsets and attend school that way.

There can be many avenues foe socialization other than sitting in a classroom.

There's nothing antiquated about people being together.

You also learn through special interaction. Home schooled kids are always the weirdest/ socially awkward people

Why is it dumb?

Less people file into an office each day due to technology. Why should school be different? There are plenty of avenues for children to socialize other than school.

The parents have to go work. Someone has to take of the kids.

Do you really want a world full of socially awkward homeschool kids?

If you think the current generation is full of snowflakes, imagine a world where kids never leave the house.

Public schools are nothing but government funded daycare at this point. When weather dictates schools must close, look at how many parent complain bc they have no where to send their kids. They aren't concerned about the kids missing education; they are concerned about daycare.
