I've said for a while now, in 30 years all schools will be online and no cost to provide buildings.

Why does it have to be in massive groups in a school building? There are other means to socialize.

Are you against telecommuting and working from home?

Seriously? Adults are more developed socially than children.

Yeah how about we stick 20-30 of them in classrooms throughout the day with small breaks in between as well as recess and lunch breaks. Let's do it 9/12 months out of the year, mon-fri 8am-3pm. It'd be perfect.

So much snark.

Too many of you are assuming that the way things are now with socialization, education, etc are the way it will always be. Think bigger.

How do you suggest we socialize them?

Are you following other people around to critique their threads?

Tell me, what should we be talking about in here? What topics will meet with your approval? Can that be pinned at the top?

Public schools are nothing but government funded daycare at this point. When weather dictates schools must close, look at how many parent complain bc they have no where to send their kids. They aren't concerned about the kids missing education; they are concerned about daycare.

Add in the free lunch program also.

I mean, school is a pretty damn effective way of socializing...

Is this an example of brilliantly hidden commentary of your point about gathering kids together?

Agree. It is also effective in negative ways.

But children were also socialized before the large / government school system. Your local public school didn’t exist 200 years ago and we had a functioning society.

Of course things are better now than then, but my larger point is that school doesn’t have to be the main avenue, and it might not even be the best.
