I realize this. But again, if the modern economy has taught us anything, its that degree does not always translate to skill or more $.

You're right.
I was one of them for a small period of time. Most of my friends were on adderall in middle school and high school. I am 30 FWIW.
Just for having a lot of energy and not being able to stay focused in class as a 13 year old going through puberty. Seems fricked up to me.

I’m not talking a conspiracy theory.
It’s the actual point of the medications, to essentially “sedate” the child.
Male:female ratio is about 2-3:1.
The reason the VAST majority of kids are diagnosed is secondary to education concerns, usually by the teacher.
The child is “too active” or “won’t sit still”.
Schools are terribly designed and children don’t get near the activity that they should.
I adamantly refuse to put any future children of mine on ADHD medications.
It’s the actual point of the medications, to essentially “sedate” the child.

Most of these stats don't take into account student loan debt.
I know men and women that made 45k out of college with a low ceiling liberal arts degree and had 150k in student loan debt.
That 45k is still more than most entry level blue collar jobs, but the net is less because of the debt.

And it's more because of lazy or dumb parents rather than on the school. I was active as hell, wouldn't sit still, but always paid attention. My parents didn't put me on that shite because they knew I didn't need it.

A little google'ing says about women make up about 25% of stem majors and stem degrees make up about 20% of total degrees.
Nursing isn't included in stem, right? That's something to consider in this discussion. Nurses often do pretty well fresh out of school.

I'm laughing because it's not the overdiagnosis that's the problem. It's the over acceptance of the diagnosis by the parents that is. Just because one doctor says to put them on Adderall doesn't make it valid.
It's on the parents to make sure they're doing what's right for their own child.

So ~5% of the total population are women in STEM if I didn't frick up the math.
I don't believe it is but I know RN's here easily start around 65-70k

Lots of parents think they're doing what's best by deferring judgement to an alleged medical professional and that's not really unreasonable.

A plumber or electrician could start off making less than 45k, but there loan debt is a fraction of a college graduate.
Added to the fact that women earn a higher percentage of BA with little real world value, they have less market opportunity than tradesmen.
The tradesmen will become a journeyman and eclipse her over 5 to 10 year period.

It's not how you start, it's how you finish.
Most high paying jobs have a higher trajectory in terms of salary and benefits. There are outliers though.
