My brother gives it to his dog and it works.

I second the Adaquan and Librella injections. Have worked wonders on my 10 year old Labrador.

Please post the name of this vet.

I honestly don’t know her name, first time I saw her because my vet wasn’t in that day
This is what I ended up buying from local health food store

Cypress Hemp

I hope you find something that helps, I lost my girl last October & did everything I possibly could to keep her out of pain

Science Diet has a prescription dog food named JD with glucosamine in it. It's not cheap, but it added a year or two to my dogs life.

Librella

This has worked quite well for my 100 pound American Akita mix. It was already in use in Europe and in the last couple of years approved for use here in the U.S. Highly recommend. Best wishes for your sidekick.

I've been paying $125 for 2 years. Need to see what another vet charges. Does work though. No money is too much for my dog.

Our 11 year old lab gets Librela injections as needed.

She was limping pretty bad back in July. A shot really helped with the pain. She still gets a case of the zoomies when our grandson comes over. That, to me, is a good sign her pain is under control

My lab is six.
What can I do now to mitigate these issues?

I had a lab with hip dysplasia, and he seemed to respond well to the joint support medicine that I take myself. Joint Support by Arazo Nutrition on Amazon. Also gave him Duralactin. He still couldn’t jump into the back of the truck, but he didn’t yelp with pain chasing a ball either. Took it for about 5 years, lived at least 10.

My 13 year old Golden is on Librela. If we have bad weather I have to dose him with a 50mg Carprofen booster 2x/day. He seems to understand both his weakness and his limitations. As long as the pain isn’t debilitating, I’ll spend pretty much whatever it takes to make him comfortable.

I’ve used powdered tumeric successfully with the two dogs of our four that were troubled by hip inflammation and pain. A big female black lab and a big golden/ lab mix. It took a week or two to build up a therapeutic level. This chart will help figuring dosage.

Any glucosamine supplement will help. I had two large mastiffs so the ready made tabs and treats were expensive to treat ~200lbs dogs. Ended up with powder from tractor supply intended for horses. Cut the dose accordingly and sprinkled on food. Very economical that way and worked great.

I tried western meds for a few of my animals and eventually got a holistic vet to look at them. Acupuncture worked really well. I was very skeptical but it absolutely worked for a dog with bad joint issues and a cat who was suppose to die in a few months from a gum disease - she lived for 3 more years.
