The automaker has built a hydrogen-powered truck for the U.S. Army that generates its own electricity with an onboard fuel cell. The heavily-modified Chevrolet Colorado-based rig is powered by a 174 horsepower electric motor that can drive all four wheels while making hardly any noise and keeping a low thermal profile compared to an internal combustion engine.

And it will only cost the taxpayers $550,000 per unit.

And it will still get stuck in the first hole it reaches, because Chevy.

ETA: Jk, I would drive the shite out of it. Then pull it out with the jeep.

Nah, it'll get stuck because it's got 174 HP, 37" tires, and will probably weigh 4500 lbs

Transvestites and electric cars. The Army used to be "come at me, bro"... now they're "cum inside me, bro"

This is how SKYNET gets started. Some General will have two of these to drive him/her around.

Definitely looks like it can't decide what it wants to be.

And what is this? An 8 Track Player?

I'd really love to know the cost on it. Anymore more than 100k and it's a frick you to the tax payers.

I'm sure they are 300k+

I'm sure the paint job will be less shiny and more "desert"-appropriate".

I think technically it's a hydrogen fuel cell powering the electric motors. Wonder how quiet it will be.

And yes, it will cost a fortune.

So they'll need a hydrogen supply to operate these things... that doesn't sound dangerous at all.

I'm not talking about the vehicle. I'm talking about the supply of hydrogen needed to refuel the vehicle. Is the army going to drag a hydrogen plant to Afghanistan to run these trucks? Do you know what the derka-derkas are going to do when they see a giant hydrogen tank?
